The President of the UAE met the leaders on the sidelines of the Conference on Development and Migration.

 Rome, (Urdu Point Akhbar Latest. July 23, 2023) President His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met today with Tunisian President Qais Saeed, Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati, European Commission President Ursula van der Leyen and European Council President Charles Michael, in which they held separate meetings. The capital of the Romans was Rome.

During the meetings, His Highness discussed various aspects of relations between the UAE and Tunisia, Lebanon and the European Union. The parties have also explored ways of supporting and developing these relations for the benefit of the peoples of all countries involved.

The meeting also discussed the agenda and outcomes of the International Conference on Development and Migration, with all parties expressing the hope that the conference will achieve its desired goals of addressing the causes of illegal migration and protecting the lives and property of migrants.

The President of Tunisia, the Prime Minister of Lebanon, and the Presidents of the European Commission and the Council of Europe welcomed the announcement by the United Arab Emirates of US$100 million in financial assistance, aimed at supporting development projects in countries affected by illegal migration, including supporting measures recommended in the Rome process.

President Saeed, Prime Minister Makati, European Commission President Van der Leyen and European Council President Michael expressed their appreciation for the UAE's approach and efforts in addressing humanitarian issues and the country's constructive and effective contribution to common global challenges.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Muhammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan also participated in these two meetings. Sheikh Muhammad bin Hamad bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Special Affairs Advisor to the Ministry of Presidential Court; Ali bin Hamad al-Shamsi, Secretary General of the Supreme Council for National Security; and Minister of State for International Cooperation, Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemi.
